RoHS Information

Common Questions:

  • How do I find RoHS Information for parts on molex.com?
  • Where can I find a RoHS Certificate of Compliance?
  • What is Molex's position on China RoHS?
  • On the part detail page, what do the EU and China RoHS values and symbols mean?

How do I find RoHS information on molex.com?

Molex provides EU and China RoHS status for every part number on molex.com.  If you know your part number, simply enter it into our search box at the top of the screen to locate the part detail page.  If you don't know the part number and are searching for parts, continue your search until you get to the part number datasheet.  "RoHS Status" is also a searchable field in our attribute search.

Molex displays the RoHS status in the Product Compliance section of the page.  There is a link in the left menu or scroll down.

Where can I find a RoHS Certificate of Compliance?

Molex provides a RoHS certificate of compliance (CoC) for every Molex part number on Molex.com.  This CoC contains the latest RoHS status for the selected part.  There are two (2) ways to get a CoC:

Single part number:  Type a part number into the search box located at the top of the screen, or use our attribute search to get down to a part number datasheet.  Molex displays the RoHS Certificate of Compliance in the Product Compliance section of the page.  You can scroll down or use the option in the left menu.  This document pertains to the selected part number.

Multiple part numbers:  If you have multiple Molex part numbers listed in a spreadsheet you would like to search, we also allow you to generate your own, single CoC PDF based on the list of part numbers you upload to our site.

China RoHS

Under Section 4 (General Rules) of the "Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products" law (commonly referred to as "China RoHS"), it states: "for electronic information products purchased for use as components in production, it is fine for the supplier not to perform the marking on the provided product."  As a supplier of components that are used in production (connectors and small assemblies), Molex will comply with the law per Section 4 and therefore has no plans to provide labeling on products.  However, Section 4 of the law continues: "but the supplier must provide the purchaser with all the information needed for marking [of the finished goods]."

To that end, Molex will make that information easily accessible via our website.  To facilitate the transfer of the relevant information, Molex has adapted the use of the China RoHS packaging/labeling logos.  The symbols and associated descriptions are included in the table below:

Symbol Description
Parts displaying this label do not contain any of the restricted toxic and hazardous substances above the prescribed thresholds in the China RoHS legislation.  The substances and their thresholds are:

Lead (Pb): 0.1% (or 1000 ppm)
Mercury: 0.1% (or 1000 ppm)
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr+6): 0.1% (or 1000 ppm)
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): 0.1% (or 1000 ppm)
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): 0.1% (or 1000 ppm)
Cadmium: 0.01% (or 100 ppm)
This label indicates that the part contains one or more of the restricted toxic and hazardous substances above the prescribed threshold.
No Symbol If no symbol is displayed this indicates the part is either excluded from the legislation (e.g. hand-held crimp tools) or has not yet been reviewed.
